Fly Fishing, Mountain Biking, Hiking, Rock Climbing

An Adventurer's Paradise Indeed ..............the things you can do at the Bison Peak Lodge is what really sets us apart from so many other locations. Truly world class fly fishing, mountain biking, fantastic hiking and rock climbing are all available on a combination of public land and exclusive private terrain literally right outside the door.

Fly Fishing- The Tarryall River is an outstanding stream for fly fishing and our 5 miles of private water is mighty productive for Browns and Rainbows over to 20 ". Other area streams include the Middle Fork of the South Platte (including the Dream Stream), Lost Creek (great for small Brookies and nice, remote surroundings) and Wildcat Canyon (on a lower section of the South Platte). Guests are certainly free to fish on their own or can arrange for an experienced fly fishing guide to join 'em by the day. Hand built rods, reels and a fully equipped fly tying lab are available for guest use. Guide rates are $200/day/guide. Access to our private water is not included in the basic deluxe package rate, but can be reserved at www.southparktrout.com. A small stocked pond is available for guest use at the lodge (and is included for no charge) and public, free fishing is available within a short distance of the lodge both on the Tarryall River and at Tarryall Reservoir. Contact us for specific details.

Mountain Biking- The Tarryall area has literally hundreds of miles of single and double track, much of it little known and under-utilized. No braking bars, areas with few people, big climbs, endless downhills, technical challenges, leisurely rolling terrain, aspen rides, river crossings, epic loops-- something for every level and interest. Some rides begin and end right at the lodge bike shop. The nearby Allen Ranch provides a growing network of interesting single track on private land constructed specifically for mountain biking. Complimentary shuttles can be provided to several classic local rides including the Colorado Trail. Road riding is also prime, although a bit limited-- the Tarryall Road features 42 miles of rolling pavement with little traffic (Jefferson-Lake George) with the lodge located right in the middle. The lodge features a full bike shop with a part time mechanic included!

Rock Climbing- The Tarryall area is home to an abundance of well known crags and even more little used rock providing a wide variety of routes and climbing including world class bouldering, sport routes, multi-pitches and an amazing inventory of seldomly explored adventure climbs. Developed areas include Eleven Mile Canyon, Feral Petunia and Valley of the Chickens and the whole realm of the South Platte is within an easy drive. Private bouldering and climbing is available at the Allen Ranch. Guides are available for individuals and small groups through our association with Outpost Wilderness Adventure-- guide fees begin at $200/day/guide with all equipment and shoes provided. There is something in the area for experienced 5.12 trad climbers as well as groups of novices interested in a fun day of top roping.

All terrain is accessible directly from the lodge. Step out the door and you'll be on your way to a world-class hike in just a few seconds..........
