The Bison Peak Lodge is located in Colorado's Tarryall River Valley about 2 hours southwest of Denver-- at the geographic center of the state. The lodge looks right out at Bison Peak, the highest peak in the Tarryall Mountains (12.486 ft) and is nestled along Second Creek at the base of Farnum Peak , one of the higher points in the Puma Hills. The Tarryall high country is encompassed within the Lost Creek Wilderness. Farnum Peak is now part of the "Wild 10" areas being studied for designation as a Wilderness Area. Originally part of the Wheeler homestead, the land was first inhabitated in the 1870's and was utilized for farming and ranching up until more recent times. In 1985, development began on the Outpost Wilderness Adventure Base Camp facility and today, the Bison Peak Lodge serves both as the OWA Base Camp and as a state of the art adventure lodging retreat.
